AIE provided survey services to RIDOT as part of an on-call contract. AIE completed surveys of two intersections in Rhode Island. Both intersections were considered to be 'high hazard' and were intended to be redesigned. Both sites, one in Cranston and the other in East Greenwich, required topography, site feature locations, utility locations, overhead wire elevations and mapping, all to be based on RI State Plane Datum. One of the two sites had existing State control nearby to tie our survey into whereas the other site required GPS to establish our horizontal and vertical survey control on site. The mapping also needed to depict the existing right of way lines and any associated baselines with stationing. RIDOT is in the process of initiating a new CAD Standard which AIE was asked to use on the East Greenwich site.
