CTDAS/CS Judicial Branch Superior Court Building Parking Lots
Hartford, CT
AIE provided surveying and engineering services for two parking areas totaling approximately 80 parking spaces at the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch Superior Court Building at 90 Washington Street in Hartford, CT, under our on-call contract with the State of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (CTDAS).
The parking areas exhibited severe pavement deterioration and required pavement replacement.
The parking areas were designed to preserve the entrance and aisle widths at 24 feet for two-way traffic as well as the entry security gate arms, card readers and loop detectors. Accessible parking areas were also provided in the design. The parking space count in each lot was preserved as well by confirming the existing parking space size was adequate and met code and then projected onto the proposed site plan.
Prior to design activities, both lots and adjacent areas were surveyed, and a base map was created in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control were designed, and contractor staging areas were defined.
In addition to the design, AIE prepared full quantity and cost estimates, and specifications for the project were developed. AIE prepared the bid documents for use by Judicial Branch in bidding the project.
