Reconstruction of I-84
AI is providing construction engineering and inspection, including utility inspection services for the reconstruction and upgrade of the heavily traveled 2.7 miles of I-84 eastbound and westbound between Washington Avenue and Pierpont Road in Waterbury, CT, as a subconsultant. The project includes the realignment of the interstate roadway in the vicinity of Harpers Ferry Road, interchange ramp reconfiguration, and state and local road construction.
The project also includes the construction/replacement of eight highway bridges, one pedestrian crossing over the Mad River, seven culverts, and 20 retaining walls; replacing and upgrading traffic signals, new highway illumination, new signs, and pavement markings; and replacing or relocating sanitary sewer, potable water, and other public utilities. Five existing culverts will also be rehabilitated and constructed with corrugated metal pipe (CMP).
AI's scope of work includes performing field inspection and survey; reviewing plans, specifications, and other documents; providing recommendations on claims and disputes between the Owner and the Contractor; reviewing contractors' submittals, product data, and samples; assisting in change order preparation; and determining the dates of substantial completion and final completion.
