CT Department of Construction Services On-Call MEP Services

Statewide, ct

AI provided design and construction administration services for an on-call engineering services contract for the CT Department of Administrative Services (DAS), Division of Construction Services (DCS). Tasks included preparing schematic design, design development, final design, and contract documents. The following projects represent some of AI's assignments under this on-call contract:

  • Southern Connecticut State University, Pelz Gym Interior Renovations, New Haven, CT - AI provided design and construction administration services for the design of new electrical and HVAC systems for four new offices and a related laboratory space in the lower level of Pelz Gym. In addition, the existing outside air HVAC system was upgraded to support the additional space outside air requirements. Work also included adding cooling to existing office #013 and new air conditioning to classroom #008.
  • Replacement of Two Chillers, 61 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT - AI provided design services and is providing construction administration services for the replacement of two existing 350-ton Carrier centrifugal chillers located on the lower level of the two new chillers will be nominal 350-ton capacity units using current technology. The new chiller controls will be self-contained and will control all chiller functions. The chillers will be connected to the existing facility Building Management System (BMS). The facility BMS will provide remote start/stop control of the new chillers as part of the facility chilled water system operation. The existing chiller room ventilation system will be reviewed. AI will coordinate with facility management regarding the phased demolition and installation of the proposed new chillers and their related equipment. The design complies with the requirements of the appropriate codes and standards, the current version of the DCS design manuals and the appropriate FM Global requirements.
