MTA Bridges & Tunnels Biennial Bridge Inspection at the VerrazZano-Narrows Bridge Approach Ramps (Group D)

AI is currently performing a biennial inspection at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Approach Ramps (Group D). The Group D Ramps include 15 bridges consisting of 162 spans, misc. walls, light poles, overhead sign structures, and a flagpole. The documentation includes all required forms and data to conform to Element Based Inspection and NYSDOT requirements. AI is providing up to three inspection teams using various equipment and methods to access all areas of the bridge. Attentive coordination is required due to the sensitivity of the bridge locations, such as an active military installation and NYC Parks.  


The scope of service inspection, examination of all structural components and requires performing Auxiliary Testing & monitoring services and ancillary tasks such as load rating updates, concrete sounding, prepare narrative reports, updating to the existing database, concrete sounding and Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) inspection. Biennial inspections include, but are not limited to, the inspection of structural framing, fatigue prone details, pin and hanger assemblies and fracture critical members utilizing non-destructive testing methods. The work includes all approach structures and appurtenances, signs and its supporting structures, light standards and electrical equipment on bridges and toll plazas including utilities, lighting and communication equipment.
